Advanced Learner/Challenge Magnet Program Accepting Nominations

The D.C. Everest School District is currently accepting nominations for the 2019-2020 Advanced Learner/Challenge Magnet Program. The nomination period runs from January 3 through February 7, 2019. Parents and teachers are encouraged to nominate students in 1st through 4th grades who have demonstrated advanced academic capabilities.

Riverside Elementary houses the District’s Challenge Magnet Program which services selected students in grades 2-5. This program is designed with an accelerated and differentiated curriculum. Instruction time will emphasize higher level cognitive skills, problem solving, logic, and creativity. Students qualifying for placement in the program need to acquire academic knowledge quickly, apply knowledge in creative and productive ways, and demonstrate a strong desire to learn.

An informational meeting is scheduled for parents on Thursday, January 24th, beginning at 5:30 PM at Riverside Elementary School, 166543 River Road, Ringle, in the IMC. The intent of this informational meeting will be to overview the program, to explain the screening/testing procedures, and to address any questions and concerns. Following the meeting, parents are welcome to stop by Riverside’s gym to see presentations by our current challenge students of their Wonder Projects. The presentations will begin at 6:30 pm.

To nominate your child, simply download the Nomination Packet and submit the form to Riverside Elementary. Packets can also be obtained from the offices of all D.C. Everest elementary schools.
