Student Earns Second Place in Masonry Competition

D.C. Everest Senior Conner Scheibe earned second place in the Spec Mix Bricklayer 500 student masonry competition held at Miron Construction in Menasha, Wisconsin. The student competition was part of the Spec Mix Bricklayer event where masons from across the region compete to build the biggest wall they can in one hour. The wall is judged on its look and craftsmanship.

Students from D.C. Everest Senior High joined students from Wausau West, Wausau East and Marathon high schools at the bricklayer competition, which provides students with a hands-on means of learning more about high-demand careers in the construction field. County Materials sponsored two busloads of students on the field trip.

At the event, students were randomly paired with a mason who advised and instructed the students on proper masonry techniques and strategies. Conner Scheibe, who earned second place in the student competition, enjoyed the event and is considering a career in construction .
