7th Grade Volleyball
Dear Parents and Athletes,
The coaching staff is looking forward to sharing with you the great game of volleyball! At D.C. Everest, we strive to help our athletes develop skills, learn the dynamics of the game both offensively and defensively, and play competitively while enjoying the game. We will work at each practice to develop skills in serving, passing, setting, hitting, blocking, and defense. Be patient with us, as this takes time and a lot of practice!
Practice will begin on Wednesday August 16h from 3-5 PM at the Middle School (see attached calendar with practice times.) Once school is in session. Practices will be after school at the Middle School from 2:30-4:30 pm. Practices and games will be Monday-Friday only—no weekends. Home games are held at the Junior High gym. If you miss a practice, you must have a written excuse signed by a parent. Unexcused absences will result in decreased game time. We are committed as a team to working together!
Athletes should dress for working out at our practices. It will be very warm in our gymnasium in August, so wear shorts and t-shirts for practices (No cut off or midriff shirts). Our school dress code does apply to sports practices. Volleyball shoes are not required, but wear good athletic shoes, bring a water bottle, and we recommend bringing knee pads. You do not need to spend a lot of money on these materials; purchase what you feel will be necessary.
After the first week of practice, the coaching staff will divide the athletes into “A” and “B” teams based on skill level, effort, and attitude. There are two teams (Green and Gold) which are designed to be equal in athletic abilities.
If you have any questions concerning practices or schedules prior to the season, contact Coach Prust.
Sincerely,
Maria Prust

9th-12th Boys Cross Country
Cross Country Summer School Training Plan
The Next Steps 2023
Dear Potential Cross Country Athletes,
As our track and field season begins to wind down, it is with great excitement that we invite you to join our quickly growing cross-country teams this upcoming fall of 2023. Whether you are a seasoned runner or a beginner looking to challenge yourself, we believe that cross country is an excellent way to improve your fitness, build lasting friendships, and develop valuable life skills.
Cross country is a unique sport that requires mental toughness, discipline, and a strong work ethic. You will be running on challenging terrain, competing against some of the best athletes in the state of Wisconsin, and pushing yourself to reach your personal best week in and week out. However, the rewards are immeasurable. Our team's mission is to help you develop a sense of pride and accomplishment that comes from achieving your goals, as well as a deep appreciation for our team's camaraderie.
Coach Minnihan and myself (Coach Micholic) have collectively worked and participated in Track & Field and Cross Country for over 40 total years. We look to providing you with personalized training plans, guidance on nutrition and hydration, and help you develop mental toughness to overcome obstacles so that you can reach your full potential.
In addition to the physical benefits of cross-country, you will also develop valuable life skills such as teamwork, leadership, and time management. You will be part of a supportive community of athletes who will encourage you, challenge you, and cheer you on every step of the way.
If you are interested in joining our cross-country team, we encourage you to sign up for our summer school class: 6-12 Strength and Conditioning. This will give you the opportunity to lift 3x a week with our team under Coach Rasmussen. We are very excited to continue growing the program and have the opportunity to compete at our state cross country meet in late October! Our Captains' practices will meet Monday-Friday beginning on MONDAY, JUNE 12th, at 8:30 AM IN THE TEACHER PARKING LOT AT THE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL… If you want to ensure a successful Cross Country season in the fall, please consider running as consistently as possible with us in the summertime! This is an open opportunity to all!
Thank you for considering this opportunity. We look forward to welcoming you to our team and helping our team chase the ultimate goal of competing at the state meet!
Sincerely,
Coach Micholic & Coach Minnihan

6th-8th Boys and Girls Cross Country
D.C. Everest 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Cross Country 2023
What is cross country?
Cross country is a long-distance running sport. We run on trails, roads, grass, hills, and in all weather, including rain. We have a 2-mile race once per week at different schools during the season.
Who should come out for cross country?
Anyone who is interested in running! It doesn’t matter how fast or slow you are - we are here to help everyone improve. However ALL runners should be able to run for 20 minutes without stopping by the start of the season. If you haven’t been active over the summer, you will find it very difficult to suddenly start running 4-5 days a week and your chance of getting injured increases significantly.
When does the season start and where is practice?
The season starts at 3:00 pm on Wednesday August 23rd at the Junior High.
During school, practices run from 3-4:45pm, Mon-Fri. Middle school students will ride the bus to the junior high for practice. Pick up after practice and meets is ALWAYS at the junior high.
Labor Day weekend
There is no practice on Labor Day weekend: Friday September 1st & Monday Sept. 5th.
Meet and Season Information
All meet and season information will be posted on the Cross-Country Canvas page.
You will have access to this at the start of the season.
Please make sure you have notifications turned on for any updates for class dismissal times, meet times, practice updates etc.
2023 Meet dates
Tuesday 9/5: Marshfield invite @ Wildwood Park
Saturday 9/9: SPASH @ Standing Rocks County Park

Tuesday 10/10: Conference meet @ Standing Rocks County ParkWhat should I do over the summer?
Be active! It is NOT advisable to take on the cross country season if you have not been running over the summer - you will find it very difficult to begin running at the end of August. It takes time to build running fitness. Use the beginner, intermediate, or advanced running plans attached.
Beginner: New to running; hasn’t run much outside of usual PE activities. Might need walking breaks after a few minutes of running
Intermediate: Has some experience running. Can currently run for 15-20 mins comfortably.
Advanced: Has run cross country for 1-2 years AND can currently run for 30 minutes without stopping.
What do I need for practice?
Must Have:
- Running shoes
- T-shirt
- Socks
- Shorts
- Watch with stopwatch function - this is really important as we run on time, not distance e.g. (10 min warm up run, 2 min intervals etc.)
- Water bottle (with name on it)
- Layers - long sleeve/long pants
- A positive attitude
No headphones during practice - we need to hear what’s going on around us. You are also not allowed to wear headphones during races.

Athletic Registration
-
You must register online at Rschool every year, once a year. You can register any time after July 10, 2023. Please upload your updated sports physical form or alternate card to the online site at the time you are registering online or bring the materials to the DCE Junior High/DCE Middle School/DCE Senior High office.
The only item that can be a paper copy, if you choose, is the physical or alternate card. Emergency forms, athletic handbook/WIAA form and concussion form must all be completed online. This information can be found on the DCE Senior High, Junior High and Middle School websites under the “Athletics” tab and “Athletics Registration and Fees” tab. Please follow the online registration instructions on that page. Parents must create an account the first time they register their student for a sport. Once you create an account, you will need your “username” and “password” every time you log on to the site for the remainder of your son/daughter's athletic careers. Please keep your username and password in a location where it can be retrieved each year.
Please do not create another account if you cannot log in. The system will lock you out.
If you’re unable to get into your account, please contact:
