D.C. Everest Excellence Awards Nomination Information
Purpose
To acknowledge and recognize individuals (employees, students, and community members) who make exceptional contributions to supporting the mission of the D.C. Everest School District.
Nomination Criteria
The D.C. Everest Area School District seeks nominations for this award from all constituencies of the District. The nominees shall be recognized for going "above and beyond" in making a difference in the lives of the D.C. Everest community. Nominations of immediate family members will not be accepted. To be eligible for the award, please give specific examples in your nomination of how the nominee meets the criteria in one of the following groups:
- Employees must perform in an exceptional or outstanding capacity "above and beyond" the expectations of the job title to impact lives in a selfless manner. He/She must exemplify excellent behavior and inspire others to achieve a higher standard.
- Community members (business partners/family members) must make a significant contribution to further the mission of the District and display continued loyalty and collaboration.
- Students may be recognized for exemplary leadership or for inspirational actions that demonstrate commitment to their school and community.
This nomination will be forwarded to the D.C. Everest Recognition Committee. This committee will meet on or about March 1 to select award recipients. Award recipients will be notified and invited to attend the D.C. Everest Recognition Celebration in April along with the nominators. A press release and social media will be used to showcase the recipients.

He has organized in-depth tours of his department for students, providing expert demonstrations in all areas of law enforcement, including police K9s, drones and bomb squads.
Chad Lemmens volunteered his talents to capture weekly drone footage of the FutureReady Referendum progress at Rothschild Elementary where his son attended school.
Mr. Ammon is a dedicated and highly respected educator who consistently goes above and beyond for his students, colleagues, and the school community.
She has gone above and beyond, multiple times, supporting students when they struggle with different academic subjects.
Their efforts transformed a wooded area into an accessible, skill-building recreational space.
He guided the Education Foundation into a successful organization which provides funds for innovative classroom programs as well as donations to clubs and scholarships.
A DCE alum, Dave Junion has dedicated countless hours sharing his art, photography and business expertise with DCE students.
A teacher who challenges and encourages students to go above and beyond — and who models that behavior for her students.
As a School Counselor, Deborah Chapman is honored for her ability to “make every child feel special and loved.”
Donald Kurth is a special needs monitor for Lamers Bus Lines who served for several years as a monitor for a Weston Elementary student.
Duane, an architect with Sommerville Architects, has designed all the #FutureReady referendum remodels of our schools
A dedicated, compassionate, and selfless student who continues to support DCE athletics despite a career-ending injury, volunteering her time to coach, mentor, and lead youth programs.
She is hard-working, tireless, approachable, visionary, and most importantly cares deeply about our students.
He generously shares his expertise, time, and life lessons, helping students build skills, confidence, and a sense of responsibility.
A Fourth Grade Teacher at Weston Elementary she is recognized for her devotion to her students and, in particular, her efforts on behalf of children dealing with trauma.
He is being honored for his exceptional efforts on behalf of his students and, in particular, the extra time and energy he gave to assist an autistic student.
Through his business and personal connections, Jim raised funds and collected winter coats, hats/gloves, boots, shoes, personal supplies, and clothing.
Joanna Bailey is credited with being an individual who is passionate about teaching and strives to inspire her students while focusing on each student’s individual needs.
She consistently puts students first, mentoring them with unwavering support and helping them succeed both in and out of the classroom.
Kathy creates learning situations that allow all students including students with unique and individual learning needs to succeed.
Kristina Barbier has worked relentlessly for years to help provide back-to-school supplies for D.C. Everest students in need.
Lisa Braun has been instrumental in guiding D.C. Everest through the complexities of Act 20, dedicating extensive time and effort to research the law and present clear, actionable steps for staff.
She goes above and beyond her calling as a teacher.She also volunteers for family nights, PTO, school committees, Blessings in a Backpack, Rolling Readers and more.
She is a role model for students who need one most and her commitment has motivated students to be productive, responsible citizens in our community.
She has funded opportunities for students to attend musicals, mentored with renowned local artists, participated in hands-on STEAM activities and more.
She has advocated for EL, at-risk and low socio-economic students, working to ensure every student has equal opportunities within the district and the larger community.
She demonstrates compassion, respect, inclusivity and diligence that helps children excel in the classroom and cope with the health challenges faced by their parents.
She advocates fiercely, focuses on strengths, and communicates clearly to ensure each child thrives.
She has championed the Books on the Bus initiative to engage students in reading, is a respected leader across the district and is recognized for her kindness and compassion.
For ten years, Nicole has led a community Pajama Drive to ensure all students have pajamas, inspired by seeing children without them on school pajama day.
His involvement—including building products for student businesses and helping raise thousands of dollars—has provided invaluable opportunities for student success.
His kindness and encouragement left a lasting impact, especially on young athletes he mentored through difficult times.
Has dedicated volunteer hours to meticulously weeding, mulching, watering, mowing, planting and trimming the landscapes of Rothschild and the Administration building.
In 2009 Mr. Gwidt, a former school bus driver and Mayor of Schofield, began a fund called “Hot Lunch Shortfall” for any child who needed a hot lunch.
He went above and beyond to provide an innovative educational opportunity for three D.C. Everest Middle School students competing in the eCYBERMISSION event.
A dedicated and beloved volunteer at Weston Elementary and Mountain Bay, generously giving her time to support students with reading, writing, and life skills like tying shoes.
Each year, she helps DCE volunteers assemble holiday meal packages for families in need and coordinates with pantry volunteers throughout the school year.

Teena Medick, Executive Director of Peyton's Promise, has made it her mission to ensure kids and families in our community do not go hungry.
From running an after-school club for EL students and not accepting payment, to volunteering and leading Rolling Readers.
Todd has gone above and beyond to show compassion and support to each of our children but in completely different ways.
She is consistently willing to share her knowledge and is approachable to answer questions and provide cultural background that may not have been considered previously.
