Adult Diploma Program

D.C. Everest’s Adult Alternative Education Diploma Program provides customized learning options for adults seeking to earn their high school diploma. This flexible, self-paced program is open to residents of the DCE District.

Program Overview

The program works as follows:

  • Prior to beginning the program, DCE Adult Program teacher Michelle Bahr requests the student’s transcript (with their permission) and creates a personalized checklist outlining what requirements a student must complete to earn a high school diploma. Students do receive credit for courses completed prior to enrolling in the DCE Adult Program.
  • Prospective students then meet with Ms. Bahr to review this information and ask any questions they may have.
  • The program offers core courses for credit. Elective course credits are earned through work experience and community service hours. All students must complete 8 hours of community service. Students also can complete another 90 hours of community service for 0.50 elective credit. The remaining elective credits are earned via work hours.
  • Schedules are built around each student’s availability. During the school year, classes are typically held on Mondays and Thursdays from 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. Summer classes are customized to the individual. Ms. Bahr creates monthly course calendars and shares them with students in advance.
  • Upon completion, students earn a diploma from D.C. Everest
