Degrees and Certifications:
My name is Dawn Schueller. I am the school counselor at Mountain Bay & Hatley Elementary. This is my 19th year of working as an elementary school counselor and my 23rd year working in education. Before I became a school counselor, I spent a few years teaching first grade. As I grew up, I knew in my heart that I wanted to work with and help children. One of the coolest things about being a school counselor is that I get to work with every student through classroom life skills/guidance lessons in the areas of academic success, career development, and in the personal/social realm. We work on intervention and prevention. I also get to do what I’ve always wanted by helping kids that are going through some of life’s challenging situations when I meet with them individually or in a small group. I help children to build resiliency skills so that they are better prepared when they encounter difficult situations. I love what I do and truly believe it is the best job in the world!. I hope that all young people will find that one thing that drives their passion, and they will continue to work hard to achieve it!
On a personal note, I have been married to my husband, Ryan, for over 20 years. We have two daughters, Emma and Ava. We also have a rescue dog named Kernel. In my free time, I love to read and spend time at the lake. I look forward to working with you and your child!
