Parent Involvement The D.C. Everest Area School District’s Title I program
encourages each Title I parent to be involved in their child’s education.
This policy outlines the parent involvement activities that will be
conducted during the school year. Ø
Parents will receive a copy of the Parent Involvement
Policy (this document), which describes the ongoing activities that are held to
inform and involve parents in their child’s education. Ø
Parents will receive a copy of the Parent-School Compact
– this is an agreement between the home and school outlining everyone’s
responsibility for supporting student learning. Ø
A Title I annual parent orientation meeting will be held in
September. This meeting will cover: ·
the results of the annual review meeting from last spring, ·
how children are selected to be in the Title I program, ·
what activities children will be involved in, ·
how children will be assessed to determine growth, ·
how and when assessment information will be sent home to
the parents. This meeting will also give parents the opportunity
to actively participate and have input in the Title I program. Ø
Monthly newsletters, suggestions on how to work with your
child, take home books, and math games as well as other information will be sent
home periodically to provide opportunity to train parents to help their children
succeed in school. Ø
Parent-Teacher conferences are scheduled in November and
February. The Title I teachers will
be available to review your child’s progress and answer any questions you may
have. Ø
A survey will be given to Title I parents in the spring
that will allow parents a chance to voice their feelings about the Title I
program. We look forward to
suggestions or recommendations from you that can help us improve our Title I
program. Ø
An annual review meeting is held each year n the spring to
review the Title I program. Parents
are welcome to attend. The results
from the parent survey as well as teacher input will be considered when planning
for the next year. Ø
Parents will be provided with timely information about
Title I meetings and activities in a format and, to the extent practicable, in a
language the parents can understand. Ø We invite you to call the school or Title I teachers at any time during the year to ask questions you may have or to schedule a visit or meeting.
