Accessing Unjustly Blocked WWW Sites
REVISED 2/25/2009
Unfortunately, no filtering system is perfect. From time to time, you may
find a good educational resource that is being blocked. The district strives to
make sure that sites which will assist in our students education are made
available to them and to you.
Please follow the steps below if you find a web site that you feel should not
be blocked. It is important that you do not skip steps unless you are instructed
to. If you don't
follow the procedure listed below, the site will not be removed from the
district filtering.
-
Be certain the site is actually being blocked.
Web sites can be unavailable for many reasons. Perhaps the
site is down or their Internet provider is having trouble.
a) Look at the "blocked" page that is displayed. If you
don't see Blocked
Website at the top of the page in large red type
then it is not being blocked by the district and we can not "unblock" it for you.
b) Make sure that all sites are not showing up as blocked. Go to a
site you know is not blocked such as http://www.cnn.com/
and see if it shows up as blocked. If it does contact tech support because we
are having problems with our filtering server.
-
If
the site is blocked, please send an email to netadmin@dce.k12.wi.us
with the subject "Unblock" and include the site name or
URL in the body of the email.
