Nicole Bowman-Farrell

 

Nicole Bowman-Farrell was born and raised in WI, owns Bowman Performance Consulting (www.nbowmanconsulting.com) and is a member of the Stockbridge-Munsee traditional community.  Her academic and professional work incorporates the intersection of Tribal and non-Tribal policy, governance, business, and education as a place for all to participate in cooperative communities of practice.  She is the only Wisconsinite to win the Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award from the US Small Business Administration and is on target to be the first Native American to graduate with a PhD from the Department of Educational Policy & Leadership at the University of WI-Madison where she's been academic fellow.  

 

Chris Clarke Epstein

Chris Clarke Epstein grew up in Illinois, but during her teenaged years she vacationed in Manitowish.  When she was an adult after several different jobs in sales she moved to Wisconsin and became a motivational speaker and advocate for women's rights.  She founded her own speaking and training business in 1983 and has been doing that ever since.

Jane Clark

 

Jane Clark was born and raised in Wisconsin, after graduating high school she went to college in Massachusetts then returned to Wisconsin for law school. She graduated and started her own law firm focusing on  family law and real-estate employment law. She later moved to Madison to do more family law then recently moved back to Wausau to take a position in a company that provides human resources for all of Wisconsin.

Sara Conner

Sara Connor and Catherine Dellin are sisters who came to Wisconsin during their junior high years.  Their mother Mary Roddis Connor was the first women to be inducted into the Wisconsin Forestry Hall of Fame.  Both sisters now volunteer during the summer at Camp Five Logging Museum which is the museum their parents started.   

Rita Crooks

 

Rita Crooks has almost always lived in Wausau, WI.  Art has been a passion of hers and after her children were in school she took classes to receive a degree in the Fine Arts Major.  The next year she started the Center For Visual Arts in Wausau.  She was a woman of vision in 1996, and is involved in numerous watercolor societies.

Brenda Davis

 

Brenda Davis lived in Massachusetts with a lot of family and friends. She was the first to move away from the area her family lived in and she settled in New York with her husband. In New York she worked for a chemical company for a few years and then a marketing research firm for a couple of years while singing on the side. She moved to Wisconsin after being married and both her husband and herself went to UW Madison for Project Management.

Cheryl Davis

 

Cheryl Davis grew up in West Virginia, but in 1961 when she was a junior in high school she moved to Wausau.  she attended college at University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.  After teaching and later working with the family business which included Central Wisconsin Paper Company Cheryl had the opportunity to become the Executive Director of the YWCA in Wausau. 

C. Ann Dietrich

 

C. Ann Dietrich came to Wisconsin during her college years.  She studied speech pathology at Marquette University, and has pursued many different health positions since then.  In addition to that she has done puppet shows, teaching swimming and coaching a swim team.  She is currently the health officer for the Marathon County Health Department.

Jessica Doyle

 

Jessica Doyle was born in Green Bay. She and Governor Doyle went to Madison West High School and married their senior year at UW Madison. Her first teaching job started right after that. She enjoyed the learning process and had to engage the students with few resources. Both Jessica and her husband went to Tunisia  in North Africa to teach high school English. After they left Doyle taught French while her husband was at Harvard. She supported Jim during the campaigning and while he was in office.

Jill Folstad

 

Jill Folstad has lived in Wisconsin all her life. She was born in the Milwaukee area and attended UW Madison graduating in journalism and political science. She worked with victims of crime at the District Attorney’s office in Madison. There she found her greatest interest, being a prosecutor. Years later she found herself working in the District Attorney’s office in Marathon County. She is currently  judge at Marathon County Circuit Court.  

Teryl Franklin

 

Teryl Franklin grew up in Illinois and moved to Wisconsin with her husband. She has been a reporter, assigning editor, editorial page editor, copy editor, business editor, city editor and managing editor in the news room.  

Linda Freeman Grilley

 

Linda Freeman Grilley was born in Wisconsin and has lived here all her life.  She never planned on being a nurse or working in that field.  She went to the University of Wisconsin in Madison and Milwaukee.  Then went to grad school in Marquette and worked in the Milwaukee area.   She started out as a nursing assistant because she needed a summer job.

Mary Clare Freeman

 

Mary Clare Freeman was born in Rhinelander Wisconsin and then moved to Wausau when she was 5 years old.  Mary is a retired school teacher.  She earned her degree at the University of Wisconsin  with a double major in Speech Correction and Child Devolvement.  Ten years later she decided to go back to the University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point. She is married and have 5 children and 15 grandchildren.

Roberta Gassman

 

Roberta Gassman was born in Boston, Massachusetts and moved to Wisconsin  to attend UW Madison. She loved the school so much she did a lot of volunteer work. She majored in social work. Later working for two governors and the top aide for the mayor of Madison as well as director of communications for the elected county executive. She currently works at the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development. 

Marge Gibson

 

Marge Gibson was born in Antigo and went to high school there. She then moved away for college and lived in California. She came back to Antigo to be with her parents in their old age. She has always been obsessed with birds and was able to start her own business helping birds and educating people about helping wildlife. This business is called REGI. 

Kristine Gilmore

 

Kristine Gilmore was born near Milwaukee. She moved to Weston when she was 10. She graduated from Everest High School and later attended UW-La Crosse.  After that, she worked as a teacher and got a masters degree from Edgewood College in educational administration. Also she earned a doctorate degree in educational administration and is now a professor.

Peggy Harding

 

Peggy  Harding was born in Wisconsin and moved often between Minnesota and Wisconsin after high school for college. She evaluates dams for safety and proficiency. She worked in design overseas which is how she fell into this area of engineering.

Sheri Holms

 

Sheri Holms was born in New York and she grew up in Cincinnati Ohio.  Her husband and here moved her because they its a safe place to raise their kids.  She went to DePauw University in Indiana and got her bachelors degree in the science of nursing.  30 years later she graduated with a masters degree from UW- Eau Claire.

Jane Johnson

 

Jane Johnson grew up in Northern Wisconsin close to the Michigan border. She graduated from UW- Stevens Point with a completed masters degree.  She became a teacher and coordinator at D.C Everest High School.   She enjoys having parties and spending time with her family.  Jane is married and has one daughter and two grandchildren.

Karen Kuhn

 

Karen Kuhn grew up in Kansas.  She moved to Wisconsin to begin her teaching career.  She taught physical education and health.  She became head sponsor of girl's athletics.  She worked with the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA).
