ATTENTION! ATTENTION!!
STUDENTS LEAVING SCHOOL EARLY
At times, it may be necessary for you to schedule an
appointment or an emergency occurs which requires an early release of your
child(ren). If you are aware of the appointment/situation in advance,
please send a note to school informing the teacher of the early release.
The child will be sent to the office to wait to be picked up. In the event
of an emergency, come to the office and request the early dismissal of
your child. The teacher will be contacted and the child instructed to come
to the office. This procedure will be followed for your child's
protection.
PARENTS/VISITORS/VOLUNTEERS AT ROTHSCHILD SCHOOL
Parents are welcome to observe the students at work and
at play within the classroom and on the school grounds. One of the best
ways to understand the classroom program of your child is to visit the
classroom. Advanced arrangements are encouraged to avoid visiting the
classroom during a critical testing period or recess.
All parents/visitors/volunteers in school buildings are
required to check in the main office to obtain a numbered visitor’s
identification badge. When the parent/visitor/volunteer leaves the school
building, they must return the badge to the school office. When parents
accompany their children to their classrooms to drop them off or to talk
to their child’s teacher, badges must be worn.
As part of the D.C. Everest District’s safe school
policy, visitors are required to register in the school office and obtain
a visitor’s pass.
WHY WE ASK PARENTS TO WAIT IN THE LOBBY
Parents must sign their children out and wait for them
in the lobby when picking them up after school. We do this for security
reasons and the safety of our students.
It’s unfortunate that our community has changed and
that students are not as safe in school as they might have been a
generation ago. The recent event of a sex offender being released to our
school neighborhood and the recent shootings in schools across the United
States are examples of circumstances that give us increased concern for
student safety. Another factor is the number of non-custodial parents of
students at Rothschild School.
The reason we ask adults not to walk our halls during
school hours is that we want staff to be able to easily notice, observe,
and recognize the people in our halls. If many parents are in the halls,
each becomes “just another face in the crowd” and staff are less
likely to take note of an individual who should not be in the halls.
So when we ask you to check in at the office and to wait
in the lobby, it is not because we think you might harm a child. It is
because we want to make it easy for staff to notice and identify those
rare individuals who might be in the halls for the wrong reason.
Thank you for your cooperation. If you have further
questions, please call Mr. Foreman at 359-3186.
STUDENTS LEAVING AFTER SCHOOL
Children being picked up after school MUST have a note stating this fact. It is the only way the teacher knows whether or not they should be put on a bus. ANY CHILD WITHOUT A NOTE WILL BE PUT ON THE BUS if there is no one here to meet them at dismissal time. Also, please make your plans for picking up your child before school. The volume of calls coming in is VERY high (asking to give students notes either to take the bus or
not to.
