To the Residents of the D.C. Everest Area School District:
We have many reasons to be proud of our students, their families, the district's certified and support staff and the larger community comprised of business, industry and citizens who do not have students in the schools. It takes the entire community to develop knowledgeable, productive, caring, creative and responsible youth capable of contributing to our society as workers and outstanding citizens.
We continue to emphasize academic excellence and to instill character in all of our students. During this age of television, movies, books, and role models that are sometimes less than what we would like them to be, we clearly recognize this is not always an easy task. Nevertheless, our students demonstrate they are achieving excellently in reading, mathematics, science, social studies and language arts. This is due in part to their innate abilities, but it also is due largely to the good fortune we have in dealing with society's problems on a somewhat less dramatic basis than many school districts.
The community can, indeed, take pride in its schools. Students distinguished themselves in all sorts of ways through their academic, artistic and athletic talents. Employees of the district have demonstrated their commitment to educational excellence by going the extra step in support of our students. This is true for teachers, support staff and administrators. In the coming years, the district will continue to be challenged by the need to live within the revenue caps, the need to become knowledgeable about diverse cultures and the need to meet increasing demands for serving new populations and increased enrollments at all levels. I am confident the Board of Education will provide the leadership and the support to continue our excellence as a school district.
